The view is stunning
They said there was wifi in the rooms. There wasn't on the 2nd floor. There was no router in our room, none visible in the hallways, I even looked in the maintenance closet. They kept telling me the man came to fix it, was coming back again to fix it, was there when I left. The facilities are very dated and need a remodel and modernization.

Great views, dilapidated hotel, marginal food, dangerous snorkeling.
The views from the room I finally ended up in were spectacular. As is the view from the pier. The snorkeling was great (but dangerous). I mention the room I ended up with because, based on the false representation from Booking.com, I needed an upgrade to get a private bath. This is false, as I was told all rooms have a private bath at reception. When I got to the hotel, they put me in a standard room, not the upgrade with a balcony that I paid for. It took some time to convince the hotel manager to give me the room I paid for. His suggestion was that I take up the matter with Booking.com, an unacceptable position on his part, as I'm sure the hotel is responsible for entering the data that Booking.com displays. The room comes with a small safe, not bolted down in any way, so a thief could easily just walk out the door with your valuables. The best thing I can say about the room is thank goodness the air conditioner was working, otherwise it would have been an oven.
Thirty years ago, it was probably a spectacular hotel. The only thing new or renovated is the plastic furniture and aluminum siding, which blew off in the wind to display a disaster underneath. The doors and hardware are corroded, and the furniture in the room needs serious maintenance (the doors/shelves won't stay closed). There are problems with air-travel to the island at the moment, and I'm guessing the hotel was less than 10% occupancy. Given that, the staff still managed to take 90 minutes to bring us the "welcome" cocktail after we asked for it. The food was okay, but consistently lukewarm. They moved the fruit to the front of the serving area, placing it directly, for hours, in the hot sun of the window. My girlfriend got horrible food poisoning the last two days. It may have been this or the soup. Or, she may have swallowed some sea water, contaminated with the raw sewage they dump directly into the ocean. You can tell this from the sweet smell of human effluent wafting through the hotel with the tropical breezes. Snorkeling is further dangerous as the pier is falling into the ocean, with huge pieces of concrete waiting to fall on some unsuspecting guest. I found electrical wires dangling in the sea water, waiting to electrocute someone should some staff member throw the wrong switch. Environmentally the place is an eco-disaster. The walls are decorated with blocks of coral carved from reefs. There are signs stating the hotel is environmentally friendly, meanwhile tons of air-conditioned air flows from one open lobby door to the other. The staff at the adjoining hotel dumps their trash into ocean, and it flotas directly into the waters of Lord Pierre.
